Even if you don’t believe to politicians consider this:
Unrelated to climate, we know what should be the earth temperature, due to sun shine, if the earth would not have kept some of the heat, using black body radiation theory. And we know the earth temperature is not the calculated one.
It was understood at 1896 (Santé Arrhenius) that the climate system has some feed-back mechanism and it was understood that some of the things that play a role in keeping the heat in the atmosphere are the “green house” gasses. Those discoveries were made long before current time.
Other things we know:
- The climate system is very chaotic and very hard to calculate predict.
- We have the ability to measure levels of gasses in the atmosphere. And there is strong evidence that the level of CO2 rising rapidly, most likely, due to human activity. (CO2 is one of the “green house” gasses)
If you do not object to any of the statements above then you should accept that the idea that a large change in “green house” gasses might cause a large changes in the climate, is a reasonable idea. And even if we can’t say what exactly will happen, large uncontrolled climate changes might have serious consequences. So unrelated to what you think about politicians, scientist, governments and so on, you should agree that we should exercise caution.
